Playing blackjack to win

October 21, 2010

Here are several main rules that will significantly help your blackjack game. You can also practise with this blackjack software to help improve your game after you’ve read these rules.

1. Define a running count.  A lot of players wonder about the running count vs the true count. This terminology is used by card counters. Simply put,In simple terms, the running count is a positive – negative variance of cards played.

2. Define a True count. This is more difficult, and needs to be calculated to help you to increase your edge. A blackjack player needs to count the number of decks being used, and you need to divide the running count by this deck number to come to the true count.

3. Always make sure you are aware of ALL house rules. They can vary from place to place, and can affect your game significantly.

4. Can I make money at this? Generally speaking, if you are a rookie then you need to think of this as entertainment. Start out playing online for free until you can understand the game. Once you step into a casino, start at a very low table limit until you get better and build your confidence. The answer is – yes, of course you can win at it. But it requires practise.

5. Pay attention to your surroundings. There are a lot of distractions in the casino, such as slot machines, and so forth. Its important that you remain concentrated on the game and what is happening around you.

6. Know your limit and stick to it. Say you are on a two day winning streak at your usual limit. You may feel invincible and decide to move to a bigger table. Don’t do it. Know your limit!

7. Rule number #7 is simply to enjoy the game. If you are not having fun, or find yourself stressed out, then perhaps Black Jack is not for you!
